Privacy notice
Last updated: 26 October 2026
Online Media Management (“OMM”, “we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This notice explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it and what your rights are under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
Who we are
OMM is a digital marketing agency based at 17a Bradford Road, Bedfordview, Johannesburg, with a studio in Cape Town. You can contact us about anything in this notice at info@ommsocial.co.za or +27 72 276 8634.
What we collect
- When you use our contact form: your name, email address, company (if you give it), the service you're interested in, your budget range and your message.
- When you email or call us: whatever details you choose to share with us.
- When you browse the site: our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address, browser type and pages requested) to keep the site secure and running.
- If you say yes to Analytics: how you use the site, such as the pages you visit, how you found us, your type of device and browser, roughly where you are (town or city), and actions such as sending the contact form or tapping our email address or phone number. See Cookies and analytics below.
- To stop spam: when you send the form, we keep a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address for 24 hours so we can limit repeated submissions. We can't turn it back into your IP address.
We don't use advertising cookies on this website. If you hide the skating duck or make a cookie choice, your browser remembers it on your device; the choice itself isn't sent to us.
How we use it
We use the details you send us only to respond to your enquiry and, if we end up working together, to manage that relationship. We won't add you to a mailing list or sell or rent your information to anyone.
Cookies and analytics
With your permission, we use Google Analytics to understand how people use this website so we can improve it. Until you tap Accept on the cookie banner, nothing is loaded from Google and no analytics cookies are set.
If you accept, Google Analytics sets two cookies, _ga and _ga_ followed by our account ID, which last up to 12 months. They let Analytics recognise your browser between pages and visits; they don't tell us who you are. Google Analytics uses your IP address only to work out a rough location and doesn't store it. We've switched off its advertising features (Google signals and ad personalisation), so the information isn't used for advertising, and Google keeps it for no more than 14 months.
Your choice is kept on your device for 12 months, after which we'll ask again. You can change your mind at any time using “Cookie settings” at the bottom of the home page, or right here: . If you switch Analytics off, we delete its cookies from your browser.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of trusted service providers to run this website, and they process information on our behalf:
- Domains.co.za hosts the website. Contact form enquiries are saved on our web server there.
- Google (Google Workspace) runs our email, so enquiries from the form, and emails you send us, are stored in our Google mailboxes.
- Google (Google Analytics), only if you accept analytics cookies, measures how the site is used on our behalf.
- Zernio and Instagram (Meta): the “Live on the gram” section shows copies of public Instagram posts that our server fetches through Zernio, a social media management service. Your browser doesn't contact Instagram unless you tap through to a post, at which point Instagram's own privacy policy applies.
Some of these providers store data outside South Africa. Where that happens, we rely on them to protect it to a standard comparable to POPIA.
How long we keep it
Enquiries saved on our web server are deleted automatically after 12 months. Copies in our email are kept for as long as we need them to respond and for reasonable record-keeping afterwards. If you become a client, we keep your information for as long as the law and our agreement require.
How we protect it
The site is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Saved enquiries are kept outside the public part of the website, and access to them is limited to the people at OMM who need it to reply to you.
Your rights
Under POPIA you can ask us to:
- confirm whether we hold personal information about you, and give you a copy;
- correct or update information that is wrong or out of date;
- delete your information, or stop using it, where we no longer have a valid reason to keep it.
Email info@ommsocial.co.za and we'll respond as quickly as we can. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we handle personal information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
